HORSE | SHORE is series of oil paintings and a forthcoming book. The project pairs statuettes of horses from across cultures and centuries with water-themed figures from open-source image archives. Horse and Shore are anagrams, and their rearrange-ment becomes a method: letters shift, and meaning with them. Horse names all horses—real or imagined—cast in bronze, clay, straw, pixels, or plastic. Shore names every place where water meets land—sandy, muddy, rocky—where things drift, beach, wash up, and wash away. Between them move seahorses and other mythic mistakes. Through remix and re-pairing, images are set into new relations. What is the horse to the shore? What is the shore to the horse?
